Thinking of installing a new AC system in 2025? For homeowners in Delaware County and surrounding areas, ensuring your cooling system is ready for the summer heat is essential. But before you make the investment, there are key factors to consider to ensure comfort, efficiency, and long-term savings.
1. Energy Efficiency Ratings Matter
When choosing a new air conditioner, look for models with high SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) ratings. In 2025, efficiency standards have tightened—aim for units with a SEER2 rating of 15 or higher. Energy-efficient AC systems can drastically reduce your electric bills and carbon footprint.
2. Size Your System Correctly
A system that’s too small won’t cool your home properly, and one that’s too large will cycle too frequently, wasting energy. A professional HVAC technician from Boyle Energy can perform a proper load calculation to determine the right size for your home in Havertown or anywhere in Delaware County.
3. Smart Thermostat Compatibility
Modern AC systems often integrate with smart thermostats. These devices allow you to automate temperature settings, boost energy efficiency, and manage your home’s comfort even when you’re away. Always check compatibility when selecting a new unit.
4. Ductwork Condition
Before installation, inspect your existing ductwork for leaks or damage. Poor ducts can reduce AC efficiency by up to 30%. Boyle Energy offers duct inspections and sealing services to make sure your system operates at peak performance.
